Freestyle Street Extreme Returns to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Once an Underground Phenomenon, Freestyle Riders Now Merit Center Stage
MONTEREY, Calif., June 2, 2011 – The top freestyle street extreme riders in the world return to perform in the Yamaha Marketplace during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring MotoGP World Championship July 22-24.
Presented by E3, a leader in action sports, motorsports and stunt entertainment, the featured stunt riders are Aaron Colton, Kane “Insane” Friesen, Chris “Teach” McNeil and J Beats. These riders are the ambassadors, driving forces and main reasons behind the rise in popularity and exposure for the sport in the mainstream over the past few years. Colton, Friesen and McNeil have a long history of performing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and J Beats will be making his debut at the world-renowned facility.
The Yamaha Marketplace is the bustling entertainment and retail zone during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. More than 150 exhibitors will be present, highlighted by Yamaha’s expansive showcase of fan favorite activities and display of their newest products and apparel. The Freestyle Street Extreme annually draws crowds of all ages to watch the entertaining stunts.
Aaron Colton’s trophy list includes XDL Individual Freestyle National Champion; XDL National Champion Runner-up, King of the South Champion; XSBA Individual Freestyle Champion, Starboyz Stuntfest Individual Freestyle, first place XDL Speed & Style Champion and XDL Wheelie Race Competition, and the list goes on as he continues to win or podium at nearly every competition he enters.
Among many national competition wins and podiums, Kane “Insane” Friesen is an XDL Champion and the 2010 CSC Stunt Riding Champion. He was also the featured rider on Discovery Channel’s hit show “Stunt Junkies,” for the Guinness Book World Record stoppie (also called endo or nose wheelie), radared at 137 mph on the front tire, with an approach speed of over 160 mph.
Champion freestyle motorcycle athlete and performer Chris “Teach” McNeil has been traveling the globe for more than 10 years wowing crowds with his impressive array of gravity-defying stunts. A two-time XDL East Coast Champion as well as a Stuntwars World Champion, McNeil has won or been on the podium in virtually every competition he has entered in the past four years.
J Beats has been riding and known in the freestyle street bike sport and scene for years. A regular fan favorite on the competition circuit and consummate showman, he can also be seen at bike nights, shows at various events and riding the streets (legally, of course).
